ONC To Release Updated Online Certified EHRs List
June 25, 2012
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) is releasing a new version of its online Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL) that introduces new features to help providers, including the functionality to support information and identification of “hybrid” certified electronic health records (EHRs) and technologies.
The new version of the CHPL, which now lists 1,700 EHRs and modules that are approved for meeting meaningful use, will be available beginning June 26.
The hybrid certification capability enables the generation of a CMS EHR Certification ID by eligible physicians and professionals who practice in both ambulatory and inpatient settings using a combination of EHR technology certified separately for each of these settings, according to a June 25 ONC announcement.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid EHR Certification ID is required for attestation in the agency’s incentive program for the meaningful use of EHRs.
The CHPL offers the authoritative and comprehensive listing of complete EHRs and EHR modules that have been tested and certified under ONC’s Temporary Certification Program.
Each complete EHR and module has been certified by an ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) and reported to ONC. Only the product versions that are included on the list are certified.
The CHPL release v.2.1 also includes improvements of existing navigation and search, including better return-to-search functionality; improved cart functionality; better product record display and search.
ONC has also published a new entry about hybrid certification on the meaningful use regulations FAQ site.
